Oshili Namibia and Botswana Tour

 Tour Description

We take you on a two week Namibia and Botswana adventure. We start off in Damaraland, where we view rock paintings and meet the “white lady”. From here we spend some time with the Himba people, learning more about their lives and how they go about everyday activities. We move to Etosha, giving you a wildlife experience that you will never forget before we move up North-East towards the Namibia Botswana border. Botswana gives us access to more wildlife, and the option to enjoy views from the river on a Chobe River Cruise. We end this wonderful experience with a day to forever remember at the Vic Falls. 

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Namibia, pick up at the international airport and transfer to Windhoek. Short, drive-through city tour and give you a quick taste of our beautiful City called Windhoek. Afterwards, transfer to the hotel where you settle in and have relaxed evening.

Meals: dinner at the local restaurant.
Accommodation: 1 night in Windhoek
Distance: 70 km on tar road. 

Day 2/3

After breakfast, en route to beautiful Damaraland, in northern Namibia. Estimate Arrival at the lodge in the afternoon.

In the morning of day 3, visit to Twyfelfontein – largest concentration of Bushmen rock engravings in Africa. Engravings depict scenes from daily life, hunting and animal migration. It was a way of communication for the Bushmen and now it is a canvas with beautiful art to be appreciated by everyone from all over the world.

Extra options: Damara Living Museum (2 hours)

Day 4

Immediately after early morning breakfast, we make our way to Kamanjab, an area well known for its world-famous Himba people. Himba people are indigenous tribe in Namibia with an estimated population of around 50 000. We will spend 1 whole day interacting with the Himba family and then make our way to Etosha to give you the best Etosha Wild Life experience.

Accommodation: 1 night at a lodge near Kamanjab.

Distance: around 200 km on gravel and tar roads.

Day 5 

Etosha National Park! Etosha is dedicated to protecting wildlife of African bush and savannah. Its beauty and natural charm simply overwhelms the visitor! Wild animals inhabit enormous regions of grassy savannah. Harmony and balance of nature fills the viewer with tranquil peace and serenity. Live ‘theatre of nature’ at its best!

Accommodation: 3 nights at lodges in or around Etosha

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Distance: around 200 km on tarred and gravel roads.

Duration: around 3 to 4 hours with stops for sight-seeing and lunch.

Day 6 and 7
On Safari in Etosha, we are tracking wildlife in its own natural habitat, observing herds of elephants, zebras, hyenas, variety of the antelopes (kudu, Oryx, impalas, eland, springbok,) giraffes, rhino, jackals and birds of prey. We search for big cats of Etosha: cheetah and leopard, and the mighty Lion.

At the waterholes, in calm and stillness, we are observing wild animals coming for a drink of water after a hot day. Evenings spent at the waterhole, watching and admiring rich variety of wildlife. Till late at night, we are captivated by incredible nature show! Fantastic opportunity for unforgettable photographic moments!

Day 8 

After breakfast we travel north-east to Rundu. En route Optional activity: visit at the largest iron meteorite on Earth – the Hoba Meteorite (2 hours excursion). Its weight is approximately 60 tons. We arrive in the late afternoon at the lodge situated on the banks of the Okavango River.

Accommodation: 1 night at a Lodge near Rundu

Distance: around 500 km on tar roads.

Time: +/- 7 hrs with stops

Day 9

After breakfast we make our way towards the border to Divundu (Namibia).

Optional Activity: A definite must see is the Popa Falls – Boat cruise.

Accommodation: 1 night at Divundu

Distance: around 250 km on tar roads.

Time: +/- 3 hrs with stops

Day 10
Early morning, en route to Maun in Botswana, situated on the outskirts of the Okavango Delta. This is a wonderful chance to observe wildlife of this rich region.
Optional Activity: Flight into Moremi for day excursion.
Okavango Delta is both a permanent and seasonal home to a wide variety of wildlife, species include: African bush elephant, African Buffalo, Hippopotamus, Lechwe, Tsessebe, sitatunga, Blue wildebeest, Giraffe, Nile crocodile, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, brown and spotted hyena, Springbok, Greater kudu, Sable antelope, Springbok, Sable antelope, Rhino, plains Zebra, Warthog and Chacma baboon. Endangered African wild dog still survives in the Okavango Delta, exhibiting one of the richest pack densities in Africa. The delta is home to over 400 species of birds, including African Fish Eagle, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Crested Crane, Lilac-breasted roller, Hammerkop, Ostrich and Sacred Ibis.

The majority of the estimated 200,000 large mammals in and around the delta are not year-round residents. They leave with the summer rains to find renewed fields of grass to graze on, and then make their way back as winter approaches. Large herds of buffalo and elephant total about 30,000 beasts are found in the delta.

Day 11 

Today we admire the beautiful Wildlife of Moremi National Park – game drive in an open vehicle. .

Day 12 & 13

After breakfast we take on the long drive to Kasane.

After breakfast on Day 13, heading north to Chobe National Park for a 3 hour wild life experience between 06h00 and 09h00, famous for largest concentration of African elephants in the world!

Optional Activity: In the afternoon between 15h00 and 18h00, Chobe River cruise. Chobe joins with the fourth largest river of Africa – Zambezi. You enjoy relaxing moments, while observing wildlife and birds inhabiting river banks. This is also a wonderful chance to watch from the boat, elephants and buffaloes coming to the water.

Accommodation: 2 nights in Kasane.

Distance: around 600 km, on tar roads.

Duration: 8 to 9 hours drive

Day 14

Today we travel to “jaw dropping” Vic Falls. We visit the falls and local craft market. Admiring beauty of the falls from Zimbabwean side, considered by many, to be the most spectacular view of the falls

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Accommodation: 1 night at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe/Zambia.

Distance: around 100 km on tar roads.
